It's so true. It often feels like most big games companies can do nothing right. Regardless of what they try to create for players, the focus in resultant online conversations is always on the ones that are angry. It would be nice to try shifting the focus & tone moving forward.

This is a pretty solid writeup! Even orthagonal to the industry, it's infuriating how many gamers think they're owed something by devs, how extreme the reactions get when they feel they don't get it, & the biases present. The recent Metro: Exodus news is a great example, IMO.

I do feel something for the games journo involved, though. I can't imagine most like writing stuff blaming devs, and it's not like the culture doesn't bite them.

Yeah; these parties are so toxically hyper-critical that they tend to forget the specifics behind development; studio size, budget, corporate structure... I think the biggest one though is there is actual HUMAN BEINGS behind these products.
