1/ I left the Down Under stream team today, and here's why. I considered doing it silently but decided against it, since these issues are too big and too important to let slide silently under the rug yet again.

2/ I'm tired of abusers benefiting from the fact that people choose to share their stories through whisper networks instead of speaking up, out of fear. I'm in a position of privilege today and am able to speak up for the victims in this particular situation.

3/ I do not want to enable somebody that has been racist, homophobic, sexist - and has both sexually harassed and sexually assaulted women. I do not want to vouch for them by association, by being a part of their team.

4/ But this is not merely about an individual - it is about an issue that is endemic throughout our culture. I will not sit silently and watch while perpetrators get away with horrific behaviour. I am tired of seeing abusers with influence exploit younger or lesser known women.

5/ When you abuse people, you are ruining lives, and you must learn too that there are consequences to your actions. I hold my friends and the people I collaborate with to a higher standard than that. I want to see people taking responsibility for their behaviour.

6/ People may have been too afraid to speak up previously, but thankfully, this is changing. Toxic behaviour, and this culture of enabling it, has to end.
