In order to make Twitter a more focused experience, I recently reduced the number of people I follow and moved everyone to private lists. These lists are organized by subject (Friends, Engineering Leadership, Apocalypse, Artists, etc) and made actually usable again.

Yesterday was an amazing Christmas morning, and, as a Dad, my favorite part was watching my kids unwrap their gifts. Never gets old.

I'm impressed by ChatGPT, but the lack of diversity in the names it presents is frustrating. I've seen a lot of "Sue", "Jim", and "Karen".

So, 2022 is almost over, which means your professional development stipend is about to expire! If you work at a company that has this perk, I've collected some suggestions in this thread! Books and courses I've been impressed with, or excited by.

I think great things can be done with AI art, but I'll always support human artists. I encourage everyone who used Lensa to also commission pieces from human artists.

I can tell you that using Lensa doesn't come close to working with an actual human artist. This project involved a great discussion about my vision (each team member's role had a DnD class: JS Eng = Magic Users, PHP Eng = Fighter, QA = Rogue, EM = Cleric) with the artist.

I'm fascinated by the Lensa app for creating AI Avatars, but I'm aware of the controversy. Artists deserve protection and credit for their work. I've commissioned real human artists for portraits. Here's some work from who did DnD portraits of previous team.

It has been a good 48 years, and I’m particularly thankful for the Chief Blessings of my wife and our three children. Love and legacy are heady things, and I’m lucky to have both in abundance.

So, I encourage everyone to live out their purpose, whether it’s sacred or secular, global or familial, something everyone will see or just some precious intimacy shared by a few. We all have a purpose, but the graveyard is tragically filled with those who buried theirs inside.

I’ve also learned the importance of living for a purpose that’s larger than myself. It’s far too easy to spend our days on our own selfish desires which only results in an ever expanding emptiness. The altar of Self is never satisfied no matter how many sacrifices you place on it

I have found that going through the hard stuff results in the most growth and the hard periods of my life have provided the most strength. An easier road would have been nice, but it would have robbed me of empathy for those who are also journeying through the beautiful struggle.

I still have parts of my life that I wish were better. If I had a magic wand, I would wave it several times to fix both my current reality and several aspects of my past. However, life doesn’t run on magic wands.

Today is my 48th birthday, and I’m more at peace now than at any other point in my life. Providence and Fortune have conspired to bless me in ways that far exceed the dreams I had in my youth

Once complete, you'll get a notification that your AI avatars are ready. The results range from creepily distorted to eerily accurate. Here are some of my favorites. Also, I cancelled my subscription well before the free trial period ended. #lensaapp

The app is free to download and use, but there's a nominal fee for generating the AI avatars. After paying, you get a timer that estimates when the pictures will be ready.

I indulged in the latest Nerd Splurge and generated AI avatars of myself using the Lensa app from . I downloaded the app, subscribed to the service (there's a free trial period), and uploaded a few pictures of myself (shoulders and up work best). #lensaapp
