The Avengers are a fascinating sociological study of different types of hegemonic masculinity (not just masculinities generally which are way more varied). And also how that manifests in (and restricts) the performance of "strong" in its female characters.

Lol, I mean so many of our media products glorify aggressive forms of masculinity - it's just the sheer number of superhero men in one movie that makes it hard to miss. Also, fwiw I mostly enjoyed the film.

Depicting is the same as glorifying? I don't understand how was it glorified, I can't seem to be able to grasp that.

Probably not, I'm so slammed with other projects right now, and I wasn't on the podcast when we talked about the movie, sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I'm sure loads have been written about this from other feminist scholars.

Or it's a movie based off comic books and people thought they were fun to write and read. Not everything needs to be some social engineering experiment for you to wedge your marxist ideals into.

Comic books constructed by humans in relation to society. You cannot claim there is a plotline that mirrors society and then not allow for it to be seen through a critical lens.

It's not about getting what you're saying, its that what you're saying is nebulous bullshit designed to play victim from everything. A man cut the grass, therefore the lines in the lawn are a symbol of the patriarchy. It's idiotic.
