People asking if #blackpanther is good despite the racial representations are completely missing the point. It's an incredible film and its representations are an intrinsic part of it, not something that can be temporarily separated from the film as a whole.

What this question is really asking is, "Would #BlackPanther still be a good movie if the cast was all white," and ignoring that that's a super gross question, it reinforces whiteness as the expected default for filmic heroes.

Which part of the movie was tremendous? Whole idea of some African tribe going high tech is laughable. Just fly to Africa and see for yourself how they live there

The reason race is integral to #BlackPanther is because of location and culture (Wakanda is in Africa, which matters to the plot). It matters culturally because it shows black people's potential when they come together and work to build something great. It's truly merit-based.

The diversity comes in that Black Panther's its own thing, rather than just approriating another and identity-swapping it (e.g. Ghostbusters). It was created from scratch to provide diversity to the MCU, but has become more than that because it's innately good quality work.

IMO, that's the way it should be. That's diversity done right rather than simply pushing a social justice agenda. You wanna see something in the world, stop bitching and go make it.

It's incredibly generous of you to give them the benefit of the doubt re: missing the point. Personally, I think they're getting the point. Most of them are just ineptly pushing a pseudo white power agenda.

ah yes and all the white characters in "Kingdom Come Deliberance" too? Yeah i think i can share your view on the idea that a Movie or a video game should have the racial representation it needs for the plot to work.. so no female/trans handicapped obese black WWII Nazi officers.
