After expressing my concerns, the conference person apologized and gave me a more complete list of confirmed guests speakers which was much closer to parity in gender and much more diverse. So I am happy to have spoken out about it. 1/2

Also, I think conference organizers, when listing confirmed guests to potential guests speakers, should make sure to showcase a diversity of speakers, not just "top" people in the field who tend to be white males. That way it shows incluseviness, and assures ... 2/3

The potential guest that they are neither compounding the problem, or, when they are from a minority, not the "token" diversity invited speaker. All this to say, it is important to pay attention, be inclusive, and speak up when there are concerns. 3/3
