If I never heard about the Fountainhead or Atlas Shrugged again, that would be just fine.

For some reason I read that as "Atlas Shrugged Again" and dreaded the thought that there is a sequel.

It would be a great treatise on the nature of constantly having to re-state the importance of Objectivism as it fails to actually accomplish anything meaningful over, and over again.

But, seriously. Rand is just a really bad author, most of her stuff reads like angsty teenage fanfiction.

I LIVED ON MY OWN AND DID EVERYTHING MYSELF! NO ONE HELPED ME, ESPECIALLY NOT MY STUPID DAD!

Taste is subjective, but I think anyone who believes Rand is the best novelist ever can’t have read very many other books.

Have people actually read her stuff? Let's ignore the ideology, but it is just so damn plodding and self-absorbed. Atlas Shrugged is a god awful book.

You know, they say as a writer, Rand was a second-rate philosopher, but I prefer to think that as a philosopher, she was a third-rate writer.

I know it's not constructive, but I love replying to people who bring up Ayn Rand by asking "Isn't she the one who admired the guy who abducted a 12 year old girl and chopped her head off?" It's fun to watch them try to deny and justify admiring her in the wake of that.

Never heard of this, so I looked it up...damn...http://michaelprescott.freeservers.com/romancing-the-stone-cold.html …

I'd put them both there, too. I really despise everything they stood for and what Thatcher did to the working class and miners.

The only lasting good those books gave us was BioShock, and even that is problematic.
