Am I alone in being surprised it was still running?

No, I thought it had ended years ago. Wishful thinking is powerful, I guess.
-
I keep thinking "it must have ended by now" but nope.

"You'll love this show!" -- All my relatives who aren't nerds and love this show, not realizing that any joke they would get in a show like this I probably wouldn't like, and any joke I would like in a show like this they probably wouldn't get.

I had an older female work colleague that loved the show, and conveniently put me and hubby into the “nerd” box, not realizing that the show was a misogynistic, homophobic trash fire, and really nothing to be happy about being associated with

Heh... I don't get all the hate for this show that I frankly enjoy very much and so does my entire family. Is it so popular that it's cool and edgy to hate on it? *smh*

You are definitely allowed to like what you want to like. There are, from my point of view, some problematic themes. Here's a (long, sorry) video that sums up some of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3-hOigoxHs … Long story short: I don't like how the men in the show treat Penny.
-
Thanks, but I've watched all seasons of the show several times and know it pretty much inside out. The only way you could argue that it's misogynistic is by cherry picking out of context. More often than not, the show takes a stand against misogyny & traditional gender roles...
-
... And this is coming from someone who's values Social Justice. I've spent exactly one Sargon of time on that particular video you're linking, to realise that's exactly where its line of arguing was headed. I'll watch it entirely one day and perhaps make a rebuttal of it.

Feel free to do what you like! We can have different views on the show and I'm certainly not accusing you of anything.

Has anyone honestly ever laughed at a joke in that show
-
I saw an episode once and laughed in an "Oh God, this is what the world is. This is who we are" kind of way.
-
When I was 10 years younger and had bad taste, I laughed. Yay for personal growth

I'd celebrate, but I'm sure they'll make another shitty inexplicably popular sitcom that lasts a million seasons. I'm still perplexed at how 2 Broke Girls lasted 6 seasons, woodenly yelling shit one-liners isn't comedy! *shakes cane at TV*
-
I mean they've got young Sheldon, so I guess you could say they have their replacement? Eugh

ok but nerd culture is so toxic now that this show is actually good parody
-
It's cute how you think the toxic parts of nerd culture are a recent phenomenon.
-
hah, first thing I thought after tweeting this was that I didn't need the "now"
