Have you actually looked at the kind of care that universal healthcare provides to people in these other countries? It is awful. People have to wait years to see doctors months to get treatment for simple things years for more serious seriously look at canda's system.

I'm canadian.

Camranz, that simply isn’t true. Their lines are no worse than ours, and they have the two added benefits of: A) Covering everyone B) Not having anyone go bankrupt due to insanely high medical bills.
-
The wait times in canada are terrible to the point that parents are forced into the private sector for their children because they are not getting care fast enough or an old woman losing both her legs because she could not be seen in time both true stories btw.

We really need to stop letting people perpetuate the myth that universal healthcare is some radical idea. It’s the norm in just about every democracy in the world. There’s nothing radical about it.

i lived without healthcare in the US. i now live with healthcare in the UK. no wonder brits defend the NHS-flaws and all-like it’s their mother!

it's incredible that it's controversial at all. people understand why your neighbor's house catching fire is bad for you, but can't understand why friends and family dying from treatable illness is also bad for you??

I grew up with the NHS. No matter what happens to me or my family, we can get prompt, thorough, free care. I can't imagine anything else.
-
My mum has been receiving monthly treatment for macular degeneration. The cost in the US is $2k per treatment. It's totally free here and it saved her vision.

I’m from the UK and honestly me and everyone I know are baffled by the situation, and the fact that universal healthcare is demonised by so many in the US. That a medical treatment or accident can bankrupt someone makes me wonder how anyone in the US is still alive sometimes
-
Our government clearly want the US’ system too and are putting a huge stranglehold on the NHS because of it, it’s terrifying

Go to Canada. After a few days in line, maybe you will be able to wrap your head around it
-
She is Canadian. I'll take waiting a bit and getting the care I need over being in pain because I'm poor.
-
Canadians are aware of both systems. Most wouldn't trade long waiting times for absurd hospital bills.
-
I’m just not a fan of taxes or mandated health insurance. I would rather keep that money that I’m forced to pay, put it into savings, and spend it in case of emergencies That’s just me. Also not a fan of dirty hospitals and overwhelmed nurses (who won’t change bed pans)
