I have an IUD, and have for years. If it surpresses your period, you won't have cramps. If it doesn't, your cramps will be worse by an order of magnitude.

It really depends on type.

Yes, and yes! Since about a month after getting mine, I haven’t even had a period and it is The Best

Should clarify, I have the mirena iud, which uses hormones, not the copper one, which is cool but actually worsens some people’s cramps !

The Cu IUD makes the cycle worse all around; heavier flow, intense cramps, breakouts, etc. & physicians warn you about the pain when you have it inserted. A few friends have removed theirs as a result. That said, I prefer the Cu IUD to hormonal options; it has serious benefits.

I have the mirena IUD. I haven’t had a period or cramp since I got it. Best decision ever. Wish I had got one long before, and saved myself 2 decades of pain.

The hormonal IUD (Mirena, etc) is amazing for people with bad periods. I had a few months of cramping/bleeding while my body got used to it, but then literal years of relief followed.

No. I don’t think it would since I have PCOS

it depends on the type of IUD you get- I have a mirena and for the first few months things were unpredictable and more crampy, but since then (about four years) I haven’t had a period at all and very rarely get mild cramps

On my second copper IUD. My cycle is actually better since quitting hormonal birth control and cramps are much better than when I was in my teens/twenties. Everyone is different though so

I have a hormonal IUD and it has definitely helped. I still get some minor cramping but without the actual period so I call it a win.

I got nexplanon (arm implant). No period now! And no side effects :)

Copper one made them heavier and more painful for the first year and a half, but they've settled out since then. When it comes time to replace I'm going to switch to hormonal, some of my friends have had their periods just stop completely with it which sounds pretty fab tbh

Got a Mirena, now I barely get periods and no cramping. Spotting every couple months, but that's it. I definitely recommend it.
