I'd be here for a show based in the same universe & lore, say for instance around Fray (the comic), but Buffy comes from a very specific moment in media history, especially feminist media history. I'm afraid no matter how talented the folks involved are, it wouldn't live up to it

I’m curious as to this period where it feels like we keep exhuming old ideas instead of exploring new ones. Is this reboot heavy landscape a response to a scary world where the familiar brings comfort?

I think that's a generous reading; in regards to the increase in reboots generally -- it feels to me more about exploiting nostalgia for profit -- less risk if it's already beloved by an existing fanbase.

I agree, and yet almost every reboot (inc buffy) has been met with a lot resistance from the fan base. There’s just a laziness there, an unwillingness to develop new ideas that aren’t “block busters”.

Until Buffy's reboot was announced, Anita and the likes would often make fun of those fanbases, call them entitled white boys, etc. etc. Now all of a sudden you pretend to care? All of a sudden the "entitled white" StarWars fans are valid? Nobody's buying it.

You're quite the hypocrite to be complaining about this, because Lord knows there are plenty of established series that have been rebooted in order to satisfy sjws like you. Star Wars, Ghostbusters comes to mind, and the new She-Ra is looking like your typical Tumblr OC.

And then there's Battlefield 5 turning itself into vaginafield 5 in order to push an agenda about World War II. Yeah, you seriously have no grounds to complain about this considering sjws have been ruining beloved series for years now.

Ok, sure. The term trap when applied to trans people and cross dressers originally meant that they where tricking straight men into having sex with them, hence it is a “trap”

It’s become more about exploiting nostalgia to push narrative, of which you are partly responsible for. It’s annoying isn’t it? Now go and sit in a corner and think about what you’ve done.

You care about destroying beloved properties with loyal fanbases? Since when? Ooh. Since it's something you like. Gotcha. Frankly, I hope they make Buffy a trans, disabled person of color. Too much privilege and entitlement before. Less white feminism, more intersectionality!

Except, apart from "nostalgia for profit", what is the point of reboots? Honestly, in the day and age of sequels and reboots, why not new heroes (whom, hey, happen to be said minority x/y/z) that we could use in an era of rehashing ideas?
