Why does it matter if the protagonist is male or female? Why don’t we look at the quality of gameplay, graphics, and stories? I find these to be a better measurement of a good game vs what sex the protagonist is.

Sharing data doesn’t mean the games don’t have quality gameplay, graphics, or stories. Most AAA games have *fantastic* gameplay, graphics, and stories
-
But why does it matter why the protagonist is female or not? Why should this be a factor in rating a game is my question? Tomb raider would be my example of a great game that has a female protagonist. I don’t kind that the lead is a female I only care if the game is good
-
I missed the part where the stats were on the quality of the game. I'm only seeing a breakdown of the numbers. Did you just add a narrative that isn't there?
-
That’s what I wanted to point out. They talk only about sex of the character not whether the game is good like any real person would care about.
-
So you don't think any real people would be interested to see trends in gender representation among video game protagonists? How did you decide that?
-
I believe that there are some however the majority of gamers don’t care about the sex of the protagonist. Hardly anyone goes to pick up a game and say I love this game because it has a woman lead or not. No, gamers want a good story and good gameplay.
-
Why are these two things exclusive in your mind? What about her posting a statistic about representation in games at E3 makes you think she's implying story and gameplay are NOT important? Again, it is just a picture representation of counting things. Not a thesis.

Why can’t you just enjoy games for their gameplay? Oh wait that’s right you don’t play games.
-
Why can't you just acknowledge that women and minorities have been poorly and underrepresented in games since the dawn of video games? Oh that's right you don't care about the medium, you're just a troll.
-
Believe it or not I play games for fun. Not to see if the game sufficiently meets my political agenda.

Really unbecoming of an Eagle Scout to behave this way. I honestly hope that you have a good hard think about how lucky you are to have the option of ‘not being political’, when so many others don’t
-
I’m trying To have a reasonable discussion. Also last time I checked the three bear essentials in life are food, water, shelter not politics
-
Happily we don’t live in the wilderness under those survival conditions, we live in society. If you have those words in your profile you need to behave at a higher standard than the rest of the chucklehead trolls on here. But you call Anita crude names and post racist memes

Thank you for doing this kind of work! I’ve also been trying to search for “video games by women developers” and having a lot of trouble finding any kind of list. Is this something
@femfreq could also undertake? -
Okaaaaay. So man cares about his BS but me, a female gamer, thinks this is idiotic, doesnt care about the gender of the characters I play and just wants good games. The Stupidity of this nonsense keeps getting better and better. What a joke

I'm sorry you're unable to enjoy things because the people who made them may not have the same things in between their legs as you.
-
Who said I didn’t enjoy? You are reaching because you don’t have anything real to say. I have been playing video games for 20+ years. OF COURSE I enjoy them. Which also means I want to see new interesting content representing our diverse would rather than the same tired shit.
-
The beautiful thing about diversity of thought is that it doesn't require different skin color or private parts to have. Creativity is a merit and merit is all that should matter when a company is looking to hire talent.
-
So, to you, the most important aspect is their gender and skin color, it doesn't matter how shit of a job they do, as long as they have diversity.
-
Why are you assuming women and POC would do a shit job? All these assumptions y’all are making reveal so much about you damn.
