    Became obvious pretty quickly to this cardiologist that everything else I do in the office pales in comparison. Best shot of keeping patients out of the ICU, and they’re also safer than most drugs I ordinarily administer. Why I applied to be a vaccine provider in December!

    I study medical evidence. And the vaccine data is stunningly strong. Bayes Factor (PFE) ≈ 30 zeros So I concur w and Post-vaccine, let people be normal. Messaging has to be about more than virus avoidance. Think

    Suggest listening to on to appreciate why the complete failure of a half century of progressive policies in addressing inequities is linked to the ideological monoculture that exists at elite institutions

    Listening to a very long speech by about how the most oppressed people in America are white coastal elites who don’t like being called racists when they say something un-PC. I get it, I guess, but I’m bored out of my mind.

    John had exercise induced cardiac arrest that required resuscitation and shocks in the field. An MRI shows findings c/w ARVD/C. He’s an avid cyclist who under no circumstances will stop & is afraid of inappropriate ICD shocks. What happens next? 👇🤯 cc

    Very interesting!

    Pfizer tested a candidate vaccine in Phase 1 with 10mcg, 30mcg and 100mcg. This is the immunogenicity of 10mcg vs 30mcg in this alternative candidate (RBD only, not full spike).

    Someone at Stanford did an observational exercise where they figured out more Stanford students are wearing masks while riding bicycles outside than wearing helmets

    The imaging-industrial-academic complex is very much a real thing Lots of people want hospitals/doctors to buy fancy looking toys. Academics should be wise gatekeepers, but more and more some resemble the fox guarding the hen house

    This is also why we don't offer vaccines. It is unbelievable all the hoops the government makes you jump through.

    In order to be a vaccine provider in philly, months long application process, hours of webinar (mid-day), upload vaxx administered, wasted, in stock to 2 different websites every 24 hours, unpredictable allocation from local DOH, 30 day expiration in a -4 fridge. 1/

    Important perspective.

    Mask mandates stigmatize children with disabilities, who either can’t wear masks or struggle greatly. It’s a scarlet letter to be the only one without a mask, and many disabled children would rather suffer in silence rather than stand out even more. One of them is my child.

    Alternative approach : allow direct purchase from manufacturers.. has problems, but not sure it’s worse when it comes down to end goal ( get vax out to as many arms as possible )

    After we vaxxed everyone who wanted vax in the practice, walked to almost every business <1mile, street cleaning crews, random passerby’s etc .. declining demand / reg. requirements made it 2 hard to maintain vax stock.

    So we're a week into the state government distribution of allocated monoclonal antibodies. There is a lot of tracking involved. We have to report weekly to the federal HHS and daily to the DSHS how many doses of each type we administer, waste, and have on hand.

    What does this say about how much of an emergency it is to vaccinate the under 16 crowd, or boost adults?

    In the UK, 90% of everyone over 16 has had at least one dose of a COVID vaccine and they had a Delta wave catching many of the unvaccinated. Trying to squint to understand why “it’s a mystery” for hospitalizations to go down even without huge restrictions.
