If you’ve met me, you likely know how big of a role music plays in my life It’s been my battery and allows me to stay focused+relaxed even during stressful times Our team just dropped a report + video on the exciting niche of Music NFTs
Replying to
Last year, NFTs brought culture on-chain and the impact on crypto is hard to overstate...but it’s just getting started Music is an industry riddled with middlemen, conflicts of interest, and backdoor dealing An ideal recipe ripe for disruption by crypto

As often pointed out, the top 10% of artists generate 99.4% of the streams on Spotify Spotify is a tool to get discovered, not paid NFTs offer a lifeline for more artists to earn a living from their work, which we think will accelerate their adoption

While I’m really bullish on the long term of Music NFTs, I go back and forth on what the near term holds While there are more reasons for it to be disrupted, there are also many more hoops to jump through

The supply chain of music is very challenging Any playback of a song is technically copyright-enforceable, which complicates the display of NFTs Lastly, the music business is infamous for picking legal battles before simply embracing technology

That being said, it's clear that there’ll be a hype cycle in this niche What's most worrying to me right now though is that I haven’t seen enough collaboration and primitives being built yet It'd be unfortunate if our community doesn't capitalize on the upcoming boom

We dive into both angles a bit more in the report, but overall I'm looking fwd to more collaboration between all the creative people I've crossed paths with in this niche Eventually, I think ideas like "stems collaboration platforms" will work..but we need to walk before we run

Another idea that's pitched to us are "LabelDAOs" Imo it's a bit too early, but what these organizations can serve in the near term is a complement to legacy agencies that also keeps them in check Never before has there been an alternative for artists...crypto changes that

You're already starting to see the beginnings of this has 1750 ETH pooled and is already deploying to support artists pushing the space forward has been collecting in stealth for a while now, and is launching publicly soon™️ (turn tweet alerts on)

Sorry for the rambling (almost done), but these are thoughts that have come from spending a lot of time talking to and working with artists entering the space

Mid-last year, our team at Delphi was getting approached by a lot of people we could have only dreamed to work with when we first got started A lot of those conversations worried me, mostly because it felt like some artists/brands just wanted to dump on their fans

A few horrible drops from these names would do a lot of damage to crypto's perception (which already isn't great as we know) The potential to onboard millions to crypto if they got it right though was too clear

So out of duty, one division we have in stealth right now (Delphi Creative) has been working with some of the biggest artists and brands in the world on their NFT strategies We wanted to do everything in our power to steer them away from making avoidable dumb mistakes

We've already committed to 2 projects that I can't wait to share publicly later this year, but are open to helping out 1-2 more and/or connecting you to friends like if you think your idea has the potential to help crypto adoption Email us at creative@delphidigital.io

There's so much going on in crypto, but ultimately I've been invigorated by being able to use my knowledge to help artists and creatives who have played such a big role in my life Disclosure: Delphi is an investor in Catalog, I'm helping launch Morii (which invested in songcamp)

Long-term, I can’t think of much that excites me as much as the power crypto gives back to the artists and the check it provides on legacy labels and processes For the full report (which was led by and recently made public), read here:
