I know a lot of folks hate the “go back to brunch” framing, but I do wish that people could have back some of their time & energy & attention for doing things that bring them joy, for frivolity or silliness or harmless stupidity.

Feeling this much existential angst about a single election outcome isn't really healthy for anyone. I agree. Doesn't mean the work won't continue or doesn't need to continue, but it'll be great to be doing it with more joy and less trepidation.

A few weeks ago I finally lost it on someone who still thinks “brunch” is a valid insult at a time when none of us has been able to enjoy a meal inside a restaurant in nine months and 1/6 restaurants are going out of business.

You know what? Most of sane America hasn’t eaten inside a restaurant in almost nine months. I think it’s time that we all stop using “brunch” as an insult and recognize that maybe people want to enjoy a goddamn meal with their friends.
