the @NewYorker editor grossly overestimates his ability to counteract the publicity he is giving right-wing extremist Bannon. Relatively few will read or hear the interview; millions will know Bannon is being honored as a headliner.

This is a really critical point. Yes the argument is he will be held to account via an interrogative potentially combative conversation but I agree that this will be overshadowed by the brand promo and credibility he receives regardless of what he actually says. Ugh.
