You don't need an accountability partner, you need to hold yourself accountable. Track your habits. It's the best way to deal with moments of weakness.

Today being the 25th day of logging my markers, I felt like sharing this mini-win. Maybe a nudge for someone who might be accidentally "replacing" good habits, Instead of stacking them. May the discipline be in your favor 🤝

I made a system around it, I had a simple notion doc with all my markers in place and I just made a habit of logging it in. For the first time, I experienced the best of all my last months coming together. It felt incredible :)

Ok duh, Why don't you just stack your habits? Somewhere, somehow I feared that doing more would stretch me out, that I didn't have the time. That was another insight from 2022's review. The fear wasn't true. Doing more right things, gives you energy to do even more!

The pattern was that I was able to stick to habits for 30-60 or even 90 days I felt like I was killing it, one habit after another But whenever a new habit came, It "replaced" the old one. I was experiencing benefits in waves.

This inspiration came from a book I was reading back then, and videos I was consuming. Motivated, I started dedicating my morning hours to do moderate weightlifting and cardio. So much that I missed out on my habit of meditation

Back in Dec, reviewing 2022 I realized I was unable to stack habits. July - Aug I successfully started meditating every day, I started seeing amazing results in mental resilience. I knew it worked. But then I wanted to take a weight loss goal

The startups that will thrive: 1. That almost becoming a traditional business 2. That figured out a Tech Advantage 3. That is in an Industry where there is no Operations Bottleneck Hard times are up if your startup hasn't figured out it's position between these.

Category 2: Pivot into Investing in Technological advancements Prioritize projects where "1 Software engineer will yield 10x business outcome than ops at the same cost" This will be really hard, Seeing this opportunity and working on a long-term goal with no immediate result

This is exactly what is happening with mass layoffs. If the startup did not figure out infinite scalability by investing in "Technological advancements" they would be better off firing the engineers. Hiring more ops agents at a lower cost and Improving their profit margins

Now that VCs are in the Rush for Profitability: Indian startups are going to fall into 2 categories 1. Layoff tech In businesses where partner efficiency is what tech was being invested into. This makes them almost a Traditional business. hire more ops than tech, be profitable

The top 1% of Software engineers get to work on Technological advancements for FAANG and likes and are insanely compensated for it. Why would that talent want to work on developing CRUD APIs day in and day out at a lower salary? It's almost a Flywheel

Then why do we not Invest in "Technological advancements?" 1. There is a dearth of experienced leaders who understand it 2. The talent to make it is hard to acquire at a reasonable cost 90% of Indian startups want to hire Software "developers" and not "Engineers"

How do we solve the operational bottleneck problem? Indian startups rarely Invest in "Technological advancements" that will replace the operational bottlenecks Arbitrage of making the ops agent efficient - ~2x Arbitrage of making the ops agent redundant - 10x or more

Analyzing the cost: Software developer - 1, 30LPA Direct contribution to revenue - Subjective Teacher in an ed tech business - 8, 30 LPA Direct contribution to revenue - 8 x 10 students x Rs 30K/mo = Additional $30k MRR

Tech is not scalable: Most startups will Invest in improving the efficiency of the process of these "bottleneck" agents. However, the leverage that tech has brought over is 1.5x - 2x. When you build tech for efficiency, you do not have an infinite arbitrage

Here's where shit hits the fan: Most startups are going to have an "Operations bottleneck" Edtech - Number of teachers Commerce - Number of warehouse workers Logistics - Number of delivery agents Startups know the bottleneck but rarely invest in solving them.

The promise: Tech is a lever for infinite scale. Startups that will be tech-driven will outcompete traditional businesses. However, you still don't find them profitable. There must be something wrong in our understanding of this "scalability"

Shows, More intricate the definition of a "View" - Higher the value businesses will pay for a model based on it Twitter could have just played with the Engagement metric and monetized on top of it, I think views are a very weak signal for Twitter's business
