I am now working on a Flight JDBC Driver in this PR. I can already execute SQL against DataFusion (Rust) from Java.

DataFusion now has examples for a client and server implementing Flight, a new general-purpose client-server framework to simplify high performance transport of large datasets over network interfaces.

All I can think of tonight is Don McLean singing "Bye Bye American Pie". We just saw the end of the era when Americans were idealist about how government should work. I am trying to figure out where the nearest levee is. Figure I can pick up some whiskey and rye on the way.

I also feel slightly guilty for filing an issue against rust-csv that was due to ignorance on my part when I could have done a little more research first.

Wow. This is quite the blog post. Very relatable and I will need to read this a few more times for sure. I've been struggling with some of the issues raised here myself.

Anybody want to help me out with this RDBC PR where I'm hitting the limits of my Rust knowledge around lifetimes?

a real power move would be to walk in on day 1 of your new job and insist on coding in the same Google Doc you were forced to use in your live coding interview

I didn't mean for that to sound like click-bait. The TL;DR is that RDBC is going to become part of the Tokio project!

"I saw your resume and was impressed by your skill set. Are you looking for a new Android developer position or do you know anyone who is looking?" I have zero Android experience. I guess this is what happens if you mention Kotlin in your resume?

This is a VERY early PoC, but I've started work on a new open source project that I think is needed and I'm looking for contributors! This is basically ODBC/JDBC for so we can have products that can work with any database through a common API.

When I woke up today I was no longer scared of Rust lifetimes. Sometimes it is good to face your fears and conquer them! I'm sure I still have quite a bit to learn but things are really starting to click at last.
