If you're not logged in they don't let you view many things if you don't set it to http://old.reddit.com anymore without the app. Even trying to expand a thread results in "Please use the app" It's moronic. There's obviously a mandate from the top to increase app usage.
I will use http://old.reddit.com til it is ripped out of my hands. Then i'll probably stop using reddit as much, just like I did with Digg in 2010 when Digg decided a user-unfriendly redesign was a good idea.

Digg thought they had a monopoly, and thus could do whatever they wanted without people leaving. Reddit thinks the same at this point. Reddit is much, much bigger than Digg ever was though, so I'm not sure how likely it is that Reddit can overreach and get replaced.
