I respect anyone who started working in esports years ago and had to do some volunteer/underpaid work to get where they’re at but I also think it’s unhealthy to promote the mindset that it’s okay to undervalue yourself for the sake of being passionate about games.

It means that people who did volunteer before and then made it, has a survivorship bias. Their experience is that it worked for them and it is harder to understand and see everyone it didn’t work out for despite them maybe being as passionate and talented
