HOW DID I MISS THE LAUNCH OF eINK TABLETS aahhHHH
has anyone used one of these reMarkable or Sony DPT-RP1 tablets? are they any good (for reading, for drawing sketchnotes, for annotating?) I've been trying to wish eink tablets into existence my whole life

I've heard great things about the ipad pro for drawing, but I suppose latency is more annoying for writing than drawing. though I occasionally handwrite digital notes with my shitty $40 refurbished faceless wacom from 2010 and that feels fine. maybe my standards are lower /o/

I've seen the Sony in action, the reMarkable on video. Latency seems too high, alas. Agree with Noah that iPad Pro is still not quite good enough for long handwritten prose… though I think remaining issues might be in software. iPad Pro for diagramming and quick notes is great!
I do wonder whether the keyboard is the optimal longform-text input device (ie, superior to pen & paper) and, if that is true, the problem is: how do we design seamless transitions between pen & keyboard?

(argh I've been rethinking pens as the optimal longform text input device too since got me into fountain pens)
