One of the better changes I made in early 2017 was a consistent “no internet the first hour I’m awake” policy, above and beyond more typical no-phone-by-bed, Focus.app, etc. When sleepy, it’s so easy to allow my goals to be subverted, mind buzzing with trivia.

Related very helpful policy: preferring books to all other forms of media, especially old books.
Obviously I still learn a ton from the pulse of Twitter, but I’m often over-weighted there by, like, 50x.

Any specific recommendations? I’m always looking to broaden my base of foundational knowledge.

Hard to say without knowing your interests but on the topic of foundational knowledge you may enjoy The Better Angels of Our Nature.

My interests are all over the map, so hard to define in a useful way. 🙃 Thanks, I’ll check it out!

I just finished the book - that was an excellent read. Thanks for the recommendation!
I don’t suppose you have a reading list published anywhere? I’d ask for another recommendation, but that learning theory class syllabus you posted a few days back seems like a good start.
