Kind of a cheap shot, but lots of data shows that kids are better off staying at home and learning there than actually going to a public school. 🤔

Agreed. In other words, people likely to homeschool are likely to be a biased sample for other factors that relate to student success (such as parental education level, relationship to their kids...) _and_ homeschooling has a great student:teacher ratio.

In my experience (homeschooled k-5) and knowing other homeschooled kids... many of the materials were framed in terms of religion and taught by the less-educated parent. In combination with the low emphasis on socialization this was a negative experience. Anecdotal though.

TBH I find myself having an urge to run away from trying to discuss this on Twitter at the moment; the problems and solutions are more complex, nuanced and longitudinal than fits in a tweet or even multiple ones. I have more questions than opinions and I’d assert that’s healthy!
