Many textbooks interpret that to say: learn + make rote use of these N strategies 👎
The magic happens when these ad-hoc strategies are invented and discussed by the students. Teaching specific instances misses the purpose.

In short, the sad thing is that the worksheet implementation missed the mark, and the first tweet was just calling for procedure…

That’s so good to hear! I wonder how long term retention/application of these strategies compare when self formed vs spoon fed instances.
My concern is that a reaction like that tweet, but from a student might discourage a long term interest in the subject.
