Earmarking pages with notes creates an interesting browsable histogram over time. Some books are evenly distributed, others concentrated.

:) I dog-ear every time I put the book down, leaving behind a dead-tree dendrochronology. (+ pen marks for notes)

Do you earmark where the notes are? Or do you flip through to find them?
