I don’t know if getting productivity basics down was a required step 1 & now this is step 2… or if it’s b/c my work is more open-ended now.

That's a separate (hard) question, and I don't yet have an answer I like. I set and update goals. Which goals? When? Well…

I (hope to) regularly put out some design/engineering work to make sure that I don't lose too much touch with reality.

But really unsure if RT/Likes/any other symbols of endorsement are good signs that you are on the right path.
