the Bloomberg article I read made 1.5 sound like the pie-in-the-sky, 2.0 more realistic.

I mean, if the idea is “set goal at 1.5 so we hit 2,” that still sounds awfully ambitious for these steps!

As far as I understand they agreed to limit temperature increase, not to reduce emissions. Subtle but important difference.

Indeed, they even explicitly call for the temperature limit to come from both reduced emissions and CO2 reclamation.
