Strictly better than an unusable platform for static, hyperlinked content, but click is one gesture. Web needs customizability.

I like to picture this 2x2 grid of discrete->continuous interaction, and discrete->continuous UI state. Web is discrete/discrete.

Would home screen rotation be continuous (animation) state, and discrete interaction? (You either rotate or you don't).

No, discrete states with a transition in between. This is what Keynote-based design begets.
