when I'm mad I find I can tap on the springboard icon I want 6 or 7 times during an animation before anything happens 👺

Not sure if any of you can comment, but is there hope for interruptible animations in the post-iOS 7 world?

Yes: use Pop to drive layout parameters you define; implement idempotent layout based on those parameters.
