The key insight is that this culture let us consider Radar a source of truth. The benefits are non-linear: you need to capture *everything*.

Apple had dogmatism going for it. When you're a huge corporation, you can set policies rigidly. "You must"s are easier. :/

Yes—if for no other reason than saving institutional knowledge. Omni sometimes forgets that it exists apart from its people.

Yeah, Radar could form a good historical record. Culture wasn't as strong there. Many bugs would be fixed without comment.

I hate that. Recently a coworker has been committing changes with just the bug # in the log, and just the rev # in the bug.

Yeah, that was the majority behavior at Apple. I *hated* it but wasn't in a position to change it.
