Can someone refresh my memory on the challenges which associated types avoid (by comparison to type-parameterized protocols)?

I see, yes. Associated types are less general (therefore simpler to implement / optimize?)

That sounds likely to be correct. :) Also, there’s no concrete instance of a generic protocol, only of its specializations.
