MVVM only requires a system of indirect notification. That can mean delegates, plain KVO, notifications, TA, etc.

Yeah, but the boilerplate cost is high enough without RAC to require careful consideration of the clarity win.

To be more constructive: I like having one kind of boilerplate that can be easily abstracted later.

MVC’s complexity is hard to resolve without a paradigm shift. MVVM in practice can just suggest more decoupling.
