I absolutely did not appreciate much of what it was saying when I was a freshman. I’m not sure if that’s a failure on the book’s part.

That's okay: learning LISP is not the point. Benefiting conceptually from e.g. its homoiconicity is!

i'm strongly in favor of the idea LISP is one of those things to be raided for ideas but not actually used
