Lovely idea for serendipity when traveling from : when you hear about a striking place (eg on Atlas Obscura), set a geofence to notify when you find yourself nearby.
(I believe he uses Reminders for this—shame it's a bit clumsy for this, e.g. you can't set radius)

Great walkthrough video from showing how to do this (plus more spatial tricks). Plus, I was wrong about the radius—you can set it, I just didn't see how. 🌈

You can! Use Share sheet to Reminders and you can trigger based on location.
(Hint: you have to save reminder first then re-open it to reveal Location trigger option)

Note you can link to social “objects” like tweets, Notes, Contacts, and even voice notes, so in addition to the trigger, it will also give you one click to the related object which caused the reminder.

I’ve started doing this for things to do in a city I’m visiting and sometimes I set the geofence for the local airport, so when I land I’m reminded to book at the restaurant or buy tickets, rather than when I get to the actual location.

Pretty sure I wrote all the code you'd need for Square Wallet back in the day…
