At an event at an extravagant office today, I had trouble focusing on conversation bc there was a piano there with an aftermarket *built-in bar*. Like: they had bought an Essex grand piano, fabricated a countertop to fit its rim, finished it to match, then bolted it to the case!!

I was actually on the floor below the thing, staring up at the bar counter, trying to figure out just what in tarnation was happening.
The image above is from Petrof, which offers something similar as a build-to-order option! AFAICT Essex does not—this was a custom job! 🤯

It actually seemed like a pretty great idea! Encourages people to gather 'round.
I have to admit, though: the countertop inviting drinks immediately next to the open soundboard/strings, and the bolts into the finished piano case both give me heart flutters.

But I suppose: this piano was sitting directly in front of a sweeping wall of 15' windows in full sun with zero curtains/shades, so its longevity is probably not a concern.
