Good question.
I keep hearing good things but haven’t found it as life changing as most users claim.
Surely I’m using it wrong…

Pkms are overrated imo.
You don't use them enough, nor do they have a big enough impact to justify the time spent on them.
You'd really have to focus on the end of the funnel where it acts as a forcing function to create something new, reduce recording time as much as possible.

Thanks for this convo.
Read that article!
To original point, pkm might be of artistic value.
But for me, I want my notes to be a forcing function for action. So currently I take a lot of notes and if they don't get used eow they get tossed.
Notion for sharing.

So PKM might be of artistic value, you say Dan?
That's a new one!
My primary reasons:
- I enjoy it and find it fun.
- It acts as pre-curation (I often forget the notes I've taken, and am pleasantly surprised to come across them again - "Oh! that's interesting!")

"I enjoy it and find it fun..." = "This is my artwork..."
imo
Your number 2 is the most common thing I see note takers and journaliers offer, that it allows them to access nostalgia.
Hidden reminders of fun times in the past.

Except I forget things so thoroughly that it doesn't even count as nostalgia.
It's more like, "Huh. I wrote that?"

I think I need to explore further the idea that mutual surprise is a basic element of communication. Thanks for the reference.
Btw that is a truly horrible translation.
