I found the Four Star books helpful for learning techniques (things to note when scanning a piece before beginning to play) but they must be supplemented with tons more at-level music—not enough in each book to pass each level IME.

Oh, but I should note: the leveling system around Four Star makes that easy. Each sight reading level corresponds to the RCM repertoire level three levels below. So if you’re working on 4* level 6, also read the RCM level 3 rep/etude books and the pieces in the syllabus at l3.
