Really quite surprised how strong this repudiation is. It's interesting that the SF electorate reacts so much more forcefully to the school board's failings than to the Supervisors'.
Wonder: historically, which officials have been more overwhelmingly removed in recall elections?

A few ideas:
- it’s easier to understand what school boards are supposed to do than supes
- people who don’t have kids trusted people who do
- people who didn’t care didn’t vote so name recognition mattered less
- organizers formed a strong coalition

I'd be surprised if there were more than a handful of school boards in US history that had this much coverage in national (even world?) news. And also, they were so unapologetic. Obviously a biased sample, but I don't know a single parent out of a 100+ sample that liked them.

only one I can think off hand was the one in Brooklyn during 1968 teacher strike
