Reflections on suffering in creative work, accelerating the tools for thought "scene", my continued crowdfunding experiments.

Hi Andy. You mention the frustrated desire for an academic home, i.e. that CHI/UIST isn't it. Have you considered SPLASH ()? It's a diverse crowd and the OO heritage means I think would be open to your stuff. Not perfect, but suffers less "evaluation dogma" than most.

(Thinking mostly about Onward!, and associated workshops. But even OOPSLA, for more mature work, is not a 100% silly proposition, at least not yet. I admit a lurking problem is that "OO heritage" is a fast-decaying resource.)

Thanks—I should perhaps consider that more seriously! I don't really think of my work as being in the "PL" space, but that may be too narrow an interpretation, since SPLASH is obviously broader than that.
Yes... there is 'PL' but there is also 'S' (systems) and 'A' (applications) and even 'SH' ('software for humanity'). That's the idea, anyway!
Also I'm reminded of Feynman: "one of the miseries of life is that everyone names things a little bit wrong".
