I've been experimenting with hosting office hours. They're enjoyable, but I sense that they could be more actually-useful. Any favorite writing on the subject I should read?

Yes, that seems to be working well! It hasn't harmed intimacy as much as I'd feared.

It's something I'm offering to patrons. Don't think I could scale it to the public—already too full with that audience to give each topic its due!

I offer office hours as part of the online course I run. They're once a week group sessions.
I feel like they're very valuable for the folks who show up - but they don't have any accretive power. I'm trying to figure out how to better create notes from them...

Which is to say - I'm not sure! I'm also interested in any reading or resources you find about alternative approaches to office hours

My advisor in grad school required we bring something in writing, and it had to be no more than a page. That whole clear writing is clear thinking thing.
I realize that might be a barrier for some. Maybe people could send ahead and have a FIFO queue?
I enjoyed the last session!

Maybe people who submit something in writing beforehand get a queue, and reserve some time for more Q&A style discussion?
