Curious: what are the best args against increased human healthspan which pass the status quo bias test?
(I've heard lots of reasonable-seeming args against increased longevity, but none survived "imagine the avg lifespan is 200 yrs; would you propose halving it with this arg?")

that a dynamic adaptable human culture depends on there being a certain level of neuroplasticity in the population. Do we want really want a society full of 200 yr olds who have been stuck in their ways for 150 years?

Checking: if we lived in such a society, would you propose halving the avg healthspan for that reason?
No, but at age 100, you lose the right to vote and (almost) all of your wealth. The rest of your life is comfortable, but without real power.

I think I reject the usefulness of this heuristic in this case though I'm not sure I can coherently spell it out in a tweet. Btw I knew this as the reversal test

I'm not sure why extending lifespan is a good thing. I don't feel like my rejection of cutting the lifespan in half is based on anything other than instinct for continued existence.
