What are the best textbooks (or comprehensive primers) which are freely available online? Ideally as web content, not as PDF.

Including actual Rust (or python code) snippets that you can run if you wanted to.
Also, the Rust book explains common mistakes (why they happen, what to do), which is not that frequent but very helpful

Broadly, wanted to open that as a theme: Have you encountered interesting reads on teaching mistakes? Instead of teaching X, teaching the "negative space around X", ways to do X wrong, ways to recover from mistakes etc
