Videos from most of the third round of the int'l Chopin competition are uploaded now. Really wonderful to be able to watch this live—e.g. the Ab "heroic" polonaise from Kyohei Sorita, just remarkable!

I’ve been listening to Rubinstein play Chopin a lot over the past couple of days, and I love his wonderfully deft touch. With respect, this fellow hit the piano way too hard throughout. To me, Chopin is about caressing the piano, even when playing fortissimo.

Rubinstein had such soft hands, even when playing very loud, and such a concept of dynamics.

Yes, I’ve been loving his performances. Also just loving his look of joy!
(also his personal YouTube channel is so wonderful, e.g. this delightful waltz composition inspired by his cats youtube.com/watch?v=VmKin2 )
