Videos from most of the third round of the int'l Chopin competition are uploaded now. Really wonderful to be able to watch this live—e.g. the Ab "heroic" polonaise from Kyohei Sorita, just remarkable!

one of my favourite pieces from younger days, used to try playing way before i had sufficient technique and butchered most of it, but it felt good to try, i was inspired by a recording by one ‘malcolm frager’. this one’s nice

I’ve been listening to Rubinstein play Chopin a lot over the past couple of days, and I love his wonderfully deft touch. With respect, this fellow hit the piano way too hard throughout. To me, Chopin is about caressing the piano, even when playing fortissimo.

Rubinstein had such soft hands, even when playing very loud, and such a concept of dynamics.
