Of all the PDF viewers on macOS, it seems only and support marginal comments, GDocs-style. I wonder why it's so rare.

What about Skim? Have you tried it? skim-app.sourceforge.io

Yes. You can sort of kludge it to do marginal notes, but it's awfully janky.

I'm in complete agreement with what you said in another tweet that literally re-creating the physical affordances of paper for digital content is the wrong approach.
