Subtitle is very grifty infomercial, immediately makes me doubt the integrity of the book. I think "Building a Second Brain" has a nicer meter than "The Power of a Second Brain" FWIW.

a) it probably works on people who aren't as sensitized to grifty language!
b) it's intentionally twee, so I don't take the language literally… feels more like someone saying "maaagic" with sparkles coming out of their fingers than a TED Talk power pose

Huh never heard the expression twee before. This all seems to rely on the question of how big the potential audience size is. If small then I should focus on the niche. If not then I need inspirational sounding language

Cal Newport + James Clear have been killing it in the space. Their book titles describe what's in the book- succinctly + clearly. No need for further "inspiration/motivation/metaphor." Your audience is not the Oprah/Brene adjacent crowd. Meet your people where they are- building.

I think it worked because of the sheer novelty. Like, tidying-up is life changing and magical? Really? And then people read it and it turned out to be true.
