It's hard. There are few great books about digital product design. So I'd emphasize books about futurism, cybernetics, mechanism design, etc. A few: - Dream Machine - Computer Lib, Literary Machines - Governing the Commons - Technopoly - Orality & Literacy - Inmates Are Running…

I really don't understand why there are so few great books about software design. There are several in the "fine" tier, basically none in the "outstanding" tier.

Completely agree. No books on software design have necessarily changed how I approach design — most tend to focus on basic intros, are a portfolio of work, or focus too much on a hyper specific methodology. Really appreciate this list. Just added all of them to my reading list.

Out of the books in my list, I think the one most related to the category you shared which is a new publication (not classic) and one you might enjoy is the Visions Magazine. The 1st edition might be hard to track down but I would by happy to lend it
