Has anyone attended an online-ified conference this past year that really "worked" for you socially / interpersonally? How'd they do it?
(attended many this past year but—despite diligent/generous effort from organizers!—I found every online conference candidly quite unpleasant)

Yes, though I’m biased as I helped (a tiny bit) with organizing.
This years Mythmoot (signumuniversity.org/mythmoot/) from was a hybrid conference with both on and off site attendees and presenters - and it was a huge success.

It’s the first time I felt regret at a conference ending that I attended online.
Key components were live streaming all the sessions (duh), but also an active Slack channel for asynchronous discussions and a running Zoom room for really connecting (my favorite part of confs).

Curious how the running Zoom room worked—like, you'd join, and you'd see whatever floating heads happened to already be in there? Or would it split into 1-1 side rooms?
I seem to recall Keli (and maybe others) would mention on the conference Slack when they were going to hang out there. That was my cue that someone I knew was going to be there. There were normally maybe 10–20 people on. Got to know a few new people. Was one of the highlights.

It was a smaller conference (100-200) so it was only 10-20 of us in the room at a time. Though it was open the whole time, people were only really there between sessions.
We just hung out in the one room and chatted, if it was much bigger it breakout rooms would have been great.
