Notifications about Twitter lists people add me to ("productivity hacks", "creator economy", "Javascript tips") are powerful visceral reminders of the lurking banality sinkholes around my work.

My impression is that "tool for thought" has degenerated into a lazy marketing slogan to upsell various JS-based editors nowadays. No one did that intentionally but it did taint the meaning of the term for those who take it a bit more seriously
