what if search were taken seriously as a tool for thought and we genuinely trusted it to help us find everything that we needed? perhaps it would adapt itself to how you use it, proactively find relevant things for you, etc. tl;dr: our brains need more lil librarian friends

Not much more to tell, honestly! I spent a bunch of time poking around with low-level OS X APIs, determined that it would be possible, started sketching search designs, then backburnered it to focus on memory systems!
